something is true because someone tells you it is, without making sure that it really is true (often in future tenses)"5
These two statements, Believing in God and believing God, is the very essence of faith. They are separate but interdependent principles. To believe in God, we must believe God. To believe God, we must believe in God.
We tend to contradict ourselves. Too often we say we believe in God yet we do not believe Him. If we truly believe in God and believe God, then the lack of faith would never be an issue. The problem lies with who we believe God to be (the kind of God He is). It is important to seek to know God for who He truly is because our expectations about God and our understanding of God’s words are shaped by what we believe of Him to be.
The grace to believe in God and to believe God:
My Word
You are a true believer.
